The 2022 Silverado is a full-size pickup truck that is offered in a variety of trim levels that can meet the needs of almost any buyer. The available trim levels start with the WT and end with the top-of-the-line High Country. The Silverado is available in several configurations including single cab, double cab, and crew cab. Also, three different bed sizes and four-wheel drive is available on some models.
The Silverado comes equipped with several engine and transmission options. The WT and Custom trim levels feature the innovative 2.7L I4 turbocharged engine. This engine when paired with the standard 8-speed automatic transmission delivers 310 HP and gets up to 23 MPG. The standard engine on the LT trim level and above is the 5.3L Ecotec V8. Other available engine options include the 6.2L Ecotec V8 and the Duramax 3.0L I6 turbo-diesel.
What’s New?
For the new model year, Chevy has made some big changes to the Silverado. For starters, each new Silverado has a redesigned front end while the LT model and above have been equipped with a redesigned interior. The new interior features improved materials and a more modern layout. In addition, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment center come standard on the LT model and above.
The powerful 2.7L I4 engine that comes standard on the WT and Custom models has been upgraded for 2022. The engine now produces 420 pound-feet of torque which makes it more than capable of hauling heavy loads. Each new Silverado now comes standard with most of Chevrolet’s active safety features, and the new Multi-Flex tailgate is available on some models.
Additional Features
Some of the most exciting features that are now available with the Silverado is Chevy’s Safety Assist. The Safety Assist is a suite of safety features that provide an increased level of safety for drivers and passengers alike. Safety Assist consists of features such as Intellibeam, following distance indicator, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, and several other features.
Towing and Payload
The 2022 Silverado excels in towing and hauling with some of the most impressive ratings in its class. Models equipped with the optional 6.2 L V8 or the 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel are capable of towing an impressive 13,300 pounds. Vehicles equipped with the 5.3L V8 are rated with an 11,500-pound capacity, and trucks paired with the turbocharged I4 are rated at 9,500 pounds. Payload ratings range from 1,870 pounds up to 2,280 pounds.
