Core Values

Local Spotlight: Freedom Work OpportunitiesFreedom Work Opportunities was formed in 1983 by Harry and Beverly Weeks, who know first-hand the difficulties faced when transitioning a challenged child to the working life. They made it their mission to assist those who are facing these same difficulties with vocational training, assessments, supportive employment, and job placements. What started out as a small group providing lawn maintenance to area group homes, has today grown into local nonprofit staple with a large community of volunteers and sponsors.

To this day, Freedom Works hold itself accountable and its entire organization to five core values:

  • Compassion
  • Respect
  • Optimism
  • Performance-driven
  • Service-orientated

It is through these core values that hold the corporation together and what makes it so effective for those in need throughout the years.

Resale Shops Full of Treasures

Local Spotlight: Freedom Work OpportunitiesFreedom Work has three separate resale thrift shops in Highland, Waterford, and Flint. When you shop at any of these locations, all proceeds go directly towards the organization’s charity and fundraising efforts. You’ll find a collection of treasures for your both your home and your closet and all items have been donated from the local community.

If you would like to donate items as well, Freedom Work will gladly accept your items at any location or you can schedule a pick-up at your place, free or charge. Items that they generally accept include clothing, accessories, appliances, furniture, toys, linens, books, and media items. They do not accept used mattresses, box springs, pianos, broken or stained items, and television sets that are older than 1998.
